Residents Urged to Stay Indoors After 6 P.M.
DAUPHIN COUNTY — In response to the wave of reports concerning unidentified flying objects over Millersburg earlier this week, county officials have issued a precautionary advisory urging all residents to remain indoors after 6 p.m. until further notice.
The directive, released late Thursday evening by the Dauphin County Office of Emergency Management, comes after multiple witnesses across the region described “saucer-shaped craft” hovering silently in the skies. Though no injuries or damages have been reported, officials say the measure is necessary while the phenomenon remains unexplained.
“Until we have more reliable information, the safest course of action is to limit exposure,” said Emergency Management Director Linda Frey in a prepared statement. “We are not calling this a threat at this time, but we cannot ignore the volume of credible reports. Out of an abundance of caution, we are advising residents to stay indoors after dusk and avoid unnecessary evening travel.”
The advisory also suspends all public events and outdoor activities scheduled in the county after 6 p.m., including high school sports, community gatherings, and late-shift outdoor work. Businesses operating in the evening are being encouraged to close early until the advisory is lifted.
Law enforcement agencies, including Pennsylvania State Police, will increase evening patrols in coordination with local borough officers. Officials also confirmed that the Federal Aviation Administration and the Air National Guard have been notified and are monitoring the situation.
“We want to be clear — there is no evidence of hostility,” Frey emphasized. “But we are treating this seriously, and we ask the public to do the same. Please remain indoors after dark, report any unusual aerial activity, and above all, do not attempt to approach or investigate.”
The Sentinel has received confirmation that county schools will remain open during normal daytime hours, but all extracurricular evening activities are postponed until further notice.
